#  Civic Education and Storytelling 

 



Kiku Adatto and her husand [Michael Sandel](http://scholar.harvard.edu/sandel) have initiated an international storytelling, reading, and civic education project, [The Babayan Story Project](https://www.facebook.com/Babayan/). It encourages children to use storytelling to discover and transform the world. Designed for children between the ages of five and twelve, the project aims to: ignite children’s moral and artistic imaginations; engage children in ethical reasoning and civic discourse; connect oral storytelling, writing, and reading; strengthen the bonds between home and school; and share art and ideas locally and globally. The illustrated chapter book *Babayan and the Magic Star* and the accompanying *Guide for Teachers and Familie*s are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
